Gaëlle joined SEQVOIA in May 2013 after working as a Head of Fund Distribution Support for almost 5 years at Victor Buck Services. Here she tells us more about what she enjoys and likes!

Where were you born?

In Gaume, Belgium, home of the famous Orval beer!

Which languages do you speak and which ones do you wish to learn?

My mother tongue is French and I am fluent in English and Spanish. I understand very well Italian - although when I speak it, Spanish actually comes out... In my younger years, I have also learned German, Russian, Greek and Luxemburgish. My maternal grandmother was Ukrainian and my paternal grandmother was Luxembourgish. I wish they taught me their native languages.

Your childhood dream?

I wanted to be a Claudette.  I grew up listening to pop and disco and I still love music from the '70s and '80s but I was definitely not a natural born dancer.

Your favorite movie and book?

Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone. I bought it to go on holidays in the Caribbean. The second and third books were already out but I was not sure I’d like this kind of reading. I happened to love it so much I finished the book in just one day… and had to wait another 2 weeks before reading the next. Very frustrating.

My favorite movie is La vita è bella. This is one of those movies that brilliantly walks the thin line between humor and tragedy.

Which artists do you admire and why?

Cousteau, for being a pioneer in marine conservation and inventing the open-circuit scuba technology still in use today. He described his underwater world research in a series of books and documentaries.

Do you collect anything in particular?

When I used to collect virtually everything: from Coca Cola glasses, erasers, minerals, shells, magazine ads to miniatures of all kinds. In the end, I turned to perfume collecting. I even created a website (http://www.perfume-collecting.net/) – it is a bit old fashioned now and it hasn’t been updated for years. I still have piles of perfume ads and boxes containing thousands of perfume miniatures in the attic. I can’t resign myself to selling them – yet.

The definition of a relaxing vacation?

Scenic road tripping. I like being on the move and experiencing different things, from turquoise waters to green mountains.

Which quality do you appreciate most in others?

Honesty. I know a liar when I see one.

What to know before working with you?

Don’t talk to me before my first coffee.

What do you like the most at SEQVOIA?

I like the problem-solving spirit of the company. We will go the extra mile to make our client lives easier.
